His Highness Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II, Emir of Kano and President of Tabital Pulaaku International (TPI), has called for stronger collaboration among traditional institutions, scientists, and governments to address the growing challenges of global hunger and food insecurity.
Speaking at the 23rd International Union of Food Science and Technology (IUFoST) World Food Congress, held in Hong Kong from 25 to 29 October 2026, His Highness emphasised the importance of combining scientific innovations with traditional knowledge and community-based approaches to achieve sustainable food security.
He stressed that scientific discoveries and technological advancements alone cannot eliminate hunger without the active involvement of traditional leaders, who play a vital role in influencing, mobilising, and engaging local communities.
His Highness further highlighted the need to translate scientific research and innovative solutions into practical interventions that directly benefit vulnerable populations, particularly in communities facing persistent food insecurity.
His message reinforced the importance of collaboration between modern science and traditional leadership in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger.
The international congress brought together scientists, researchers, policymakers, and industry leaders from around the world to exchange knowledge and explore innovative solutions for sustainable food systems.

Long Live TPI! Long Live Hooreejo!
